An interlibrary loan is a transaction in which the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System borrows materials from another library system on behalf of a patron. The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System provides interlibrary loan services in order to enhance and extend the resources available to its users.
You may request an interlibrary loan if a book, magazine or journal article you are seeking is not owned by the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System (AFPLS). In order to see if an item is owned by our system search the Catalog. If materials are owned by AFPLS, you can place a hold on the item in the catalog using your library card ID and password.

This service is often free, but sometimes there is a charge for photocopied materials or for rare, hard-to-find items held by only a few libraries.
