 Anne T. Haimes, Interim Director
Prior to taking a position with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library, Anne Haimes worked in the technical services division of the University of Florida Library and as a freelance journalist. She joined the Atlanta Public Library staff in 1974 as a library assistant. She has worked in libraries for 38 years including the year she took leave to complete her master’s degree. She has served as Children’s Librarian, Branch Manager and Branch Group Manager during her career in libraries. As a Branch Group Manager she provided administrative oversight to multiple branch libraries. She holds a master’s degree in Information and Library Science from Emory University and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Florida.
Ms. Haimes served on the state-wide children’s services quadrant council for the Georgia Public Library Service (GPLS); this group lead summer reading, planned and presented an annual children’s services conference, and contributed to state-wide children’s service initiatives. She is a member of the American Library Association and the Public Library Association and has served on the PLA program committee. She has developed program proposals that were selected to be presented as part of the slate of PLA programs at the ALA national conference in 2008 and 2010.
