Library Administrative Assistant
Incumbent in this class is responsible for assisting with the development of the Library's budget and recommending book titles for weeding or ordering. Responsibilities also include supervising library unit staff and volunteers as required.
Incumbents in this class are responsible for the development of strategic plans for library services, including the approval of branch and department library budgets. May have system-wide responsibilities.
Library Research Associate
Incumbents in this class perform process duties related to research and writing related to manuscripts, photographs and archives for the library system. Responsibilities include assessing special library collections, assisting patrons with special collection research, preparing special historical exhibits, and providing expert advice to a variety of individuals and committees.
Incumbent in this class performs entry-level professional librarian work. Responsibilities include providing services for children and youth, cataloging library materials, and serving as a primary source of information for library patrons.
Incumbent in this class independently manages an entire library subject collection. Responsibilities include selecting library books, providing complex reference assistance and bibliographic instruction to patrons, managing a library unit program initiative, and serving as an expert in a specialized subject area.
Incumbents are responsible for duties related to the development and management of a unit or single function of specialized system-wide library technical resources. Incumbents may serve as head of an area or regional branch or major division of the research library or the central library. Responsibilities include analysis and recommendation of new computer systems, including training, research and/or data management programs. Incumbents also develop and coordinate system-wide technical policies and procedures. Employee manages a unit or department budget and staff or special project, including training of system-wide staff in specialized technical functions to support the library system.
Incumbents in this class perform interpretive duties related to managing a system-wide support functional area of the library system or a branch library or serving as a specialty expert in a particular field. Responsibilities include developing goals, objectives, policies and procedures, developing and managing the budget, and serving as community liaison for the branch or functional area.
Incumbent in this class performs defined duties related to providing customer service and other assistance to patrons within the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library system. Responsibilities include assisting patrons with problems, maintaining supplies, and checking out materials to users.
Library Assistant Senior
Incumbent in this class performs defined duties related to addressing patron concerns. Responsibilities include providing customer service to patrons, negotiating customer accounts and fine/fee transactions, and producing fine reports.
Incumbent in this class performs operational duties related to performing accounting and administrative functions within an assigned unit or department of the Library System. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and presenting public programs; participating in reviewing, selecting, and ordering books; maintaining library files; and providing lead direction as required.
Library Senior Associate
Incumbent in this class performs operational duties related to supervising accounting and administrative functions within an assigned unit or department of the Library System. Responsibilities include supervising and training assigned staff; assisting with planning and presenting public programs; preparing statistical reports; assisting in reviewing, selecting, and ordering books; recommending changes to system-wide policies and procedures; and providing training to the general public.
