Teens Making History, Oral History

The Roswell Library, a part of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System, is hosting a program for teens where the StoryCorps Atlanta team will discuss the importance of preserving the stories of loved ones and community members. Participants can choose between two sessions being held on Wednesday, January 26th – one at 4:00 pm and the other at 6:00 pm in the meeting room of the Roswell Library.

Teens will learn more about the StoryCorps recording booth that will be at Roswell Library on Saturday, February 26

th

as part of the Roswell Roots celebration. As part of the StoryCorps Griot project, teens can record the stories of hometown history makers in Roswell’s African-American community. The recorded interviews will be archived in the Smithsonian Museum of African-American History and Culture and in the Library of Congress. StoryCorps interviews are a regular feature on NPR’s Morning Edition.

The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are required. The Roswell Library is located at 115 Norcross Street, Roswell, Georgia. For more information, call the Roswell Library at 770-640-3075.
